The bio of the Sole Proprietor essentially describes the company. First, a few references from David Patterson's LinkedIn site and a partial list of recent projects:

Customer testimonials

“David is very smart, open-minded, and brave enough to try new ideas that others would not be willing to explore.” Barry Bunin, President, Collaborative Drug Discovery (CDD, Inc.)

"I worked with Dave off and on over the 11+ years of overlap ...  he has the rare gift of being able to balance practical possiblilty against theoretical limitations, which is the opposite of how most bright people's minds work. That characteristic was critical to a long train of innovations like the embedded NLM projection that he devised and patented...” Bob Clark, VP Science & Research, Tripos International

“I have worked with David both during my time at Tripos and had many interactions with him in my role with Pfizer. I have always found David to be an intelligent and thoughtful person who puts a lot of time and energy into finding solutions to technical problems. I have always enjoyed the interactions we have had and would recommend working with him to others.” Nigel Greene, Associate Research Fellow, Pfizer

“David worked at Tripos for approximately 18 years, reporting directly to me for the last 10 years. His title, Senior Fellow, was the scientific track equivalent of Senior Vice President. As a scientist at Tripos, David worked on development of novel data analysis and data modeling tools applied to pharmaceutical design, specifically in the 3D-QSAR and related fields. In that capacity, David was responsible for discovery, design, and implementation of novel computer algorithms applied to complex scientific relationships. David was very successful in this area, contributing significantly to the development of the CoMFA method - a seminal, patented breakthrough that was key to Tripos success. David also had the license to develop new, "outside the box" ideas for the company. In this capacity, David was a significant motivator of a number of new efforts, notably, the decision for Tripos to directly enter the chemistry field, using the design and analysis tools to differentiate offerings in this area. This, too, was a successful direction for the company. As another example, David was tagged to set up a "new initiatives" team in the Bay Area, recruiting computational scientists with expertise outside the pharmaceutical realm to bring new thinking to this area, an effort that succeeded in identifying new areas of potential investment for the company that have subsequently been very successful. I highly recommend David for his intelligence, creativity, and ability to carry a project from concept to proof of concept.” John P. McAlister, President & CEO, Tripos, Inc.
